Albuquerque Hosts "Great Motion Picture Show" October 4-12
On Saturday, October 4, more than 700 hot air balloons will ascend from Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Hot air and gas balloons representing 38 states and 22 countries compete in a variety of events over ten days according to 32nd Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta® spokesperson Kathie Leyendecker.
“ You cannot help but be captivated, charmed, and awed as the balloons drift quietly against the backdrop of the Sandia Mountains,” says Leyendecker, who has attended all 32 Balloon Fiestas dating back to the very first one held in 1970 where 13 balloons launched from the parking lot of a shopping center.
Spectators will be delighted with the weekend morning mass ascensions, evening balloon glows, and special shapes rodeos where uniquely shaped balloons participate. The Balloon Fiesta is one of the few ballooning events in the world where visitors can experience the excitement of interacting with the pilots and their crews as they inflate and launch their balloons from the field.
The BalloonFiesta will end with a final mass ascension on Sunday, October 12. For more information on this year's event, visit the Balloon Fiesta web site at http://www.balloonfiesta.com. To review news release archives from prior Balloon Fiestas, visit http://www.abqnews.com/releases/AIBF/.
